Properly caring for your tattoo
is vital to the healing process
and can help make your tattoo colours last longer over time.
Here is some info for tattoo care in the first weeks after getting your
tattoo.
Upon arriving home, peel off any dressing wrapped on your tattoo.
Wash it under hot running water and use a lil soap. Lather gently.
Dab your tattoo dry after washing. (Don't rub!)
Allow your tattoo to air dry for about 45 minutes with nothing touching
it.
Apply Bepanthen cream, available in the baby section of the chemist/supermarket.
Take note not to apply too much cream as this will make your tattoo too
soggy
and you'll find it'll go gluggy.
So only apply a small amount rubbing it gently into the tattoo.
Apply the cream to a clean tattoo about 3 or 4 times a day.
Keep it moist with cream at all times for approximately 2-3 weeks.
After healing, apply sunscreen when going into the sun.
This will deter the colours fading from sun exposure.
And, last, but not least, don't swim for 2 weeks after you got your tattoo.
